Manos talks Gamecock commitment

South Carolina now has its third third commitment of the 2018 recruiting class as in-state offensive lineman Hank Manos has pledged to the Gamecocks.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder was slated to visit Duke one more time prior to his spring practice visiting, but knew that heading right down the road to Columbia was the move best suited for him.

"I ended up cancelling that trip," he said. "I kind of realized I had everything I wanted in South Carolina and that it was the school for me. I pulled the trigger on that."

What specifically was it about Will Muschamp's program that was the biggest attraction for the Chapin product?

"Definitely name recognition. South Carolina is one of two teams in this state that's really a household name. I just realized that was the thing I wanted to go with," he said. "I wanted to be part of that of that program, around those coaches and around those guys down there."

The three-star lineman delivered the news to Muschamp and offensive line coach Eric Wolford today.

"They were very happy, very excited," Manos said.

Manos began developing a strong rapport with Wolford after Muschamp brought him back to Columbia for his second stint as a Gamecock assistant. Manos looks forward to playing for the coaching staff at Carolina.

"My plan is to go in and do what they need me to do," Manos said. "From what I've seen, they're the best people. They're not the type that's going to lie to you, they're going to give it to you straight up. They definitely know what they're doing. Coach Wolf just came from the NFL and Coach Muschamp, his record speaks for itself."

Manos said that Gamecock fans need not worry about him wavering on his choice.

"I'm completely done. I'm 100 percent committed."
