Martin lands in-state big man

Frank Martin has landed seven-footer Jason Cudd out of Socastee High in Myrtle Beach, according to Phenom Hoops Report's Jamie Shaw. It is the first verbal commitment for South Carolina in the 2017 class.

The in-state big man made an official visit to South Carolina this past weekend.

Cudd's former high school coach, DeAndre Scott, previously noted to GamecockCentral.com that Cudd shot the ball well from 15-19 feet out and had good touch. He shot 72 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the foul line as a junior.

"He actually runs the floor well for a kid his size and has really good hands. Cleanly catches almost everything," Scott said in April. "He’s got to continue to improve his body, strength and conditioning and continue to become a more explosive athlete. I would like to see him more active defensively rebounding and affecting shots."
