Nations top WR
Washington (D.C.) Dunbar star Arrelious Benn is potentially the nation's best wide receiver prospect in the class of 2007. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound Benn already has well over 30 scholarship offers to his credit, including tenders from many of the nation's elite programs.
"I have a lot of offers, but some of the schools that are on my mind are Maryland, Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Illinois, South Carolina, Florida, Florida State and Georgia," he said. "All of them have offered me and a whole bunch of other schools have, too."

Benn, who caught 50 balls for 1,149 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior, has attended junior days at Maryland and Notre Dame.
"I like Maryland's quarterback situation with Josh Portis transferring from Florida, they're going to be running more spread offense," he said. "It's also close to home, and they've never had an All-American wide receiver before, so that would be a challenge for me to accomplish."
Benn, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, also enjoyed his trip to South Bend.
"I like Notre Dame's style of offense because Charlie Weis is such an offensive guru," Benn said. "Their quarterback situation is a good one, too. Their campus is nice, and they have a good academic reputation."
Southern Cal also rates highly on Benn's list.
"Southern Cal is Southern Cal. They run a nice offense and they don't really have a lot of depth at wide receiver like some people think. I like how they win, and how they throw it a lot."
Two SEC schools round out the list of schools Benn commented on.
"South Carolina runs a great offense for wide receivers now that Steve Spurrier is there. He'll always have a good quarterback situation for wide receivers. I've heard they have nice facilities down there. Georgia is in the SEC, too, so I know they play against great competition. They run a good offense, too."
Benn will base his decision on several factors.
"Academic support, my position breakdown, and the quarterback situation," he said. "Also the coaching situation because I don't want to end up somewhere where the head coach gets fired after I get there."
Benn said he won't narrow his list for a while, but five teams currently top his list.
"Notre Dame, Illinois, Florida State, Maryland and Southern Cal. Those are probably the top ones."
