OrTre Smith named Mr. Football finalist

Mt. Pleasant (S.C.) Wando four-star wide receiver and South Carolina commitment OrTre Smith was named one of five finalists for the South Carolina Mr. Football award Wednesday night. The finalists were announced on the South Carolina Sports Talk Radio Network.

Smith, ranked the top player in the state's class of 2017 by Rivals.com, committed to the Gamecocks last month over Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina and Florida, among others.

Smith is ranked the No. 85 prospect in the country by Rivals.com.

The other four finalists are North Central running back Cedrick Cunningham, Northwestern quarterback Gage Maloney, Broome linebacker D’Marco Jackson and Greer offensive lineman Noah Hannon.

The award will be announced at halftime of the North-South game in Myrtle Beach on Dec. 10.
