When Darius Rucker takes the stage at Colonial Life Arena for a free concert for South Carolina students, he'll do so in style.
The concert, which is the result of a promise Rucker made if the Gamecocks' football team won six games this season to become bowl eligible, is scheduled to go on at 7:30 p.m. despite the severe weather in the area.
South Carolina has promised a “gameday feel” and a few surprises for students in attendance. It also will feature opener Patrick Davis, known for his USC-themed songs, "Big 'Ole Cock" and "God Bless Sin."
The stage for Rucker, one of the school's biggest and most-famous fans, seems to have it all, right down to the bushes that adorn the Williams-Brice Stadium end zones. Rucker's stage has an "end zone" too, featuring the garnet and black diamonds that used to be part of a Carolina gameday.
