Quarles working Lattimore for Carolina

Greenwood (S.C.) defensive lineman and South Carolina class of 2010 commitment Kelcy Quarles will make his way to Columbia this weekend for the Gamecocks' junior day, and he's looking forward to the experience.
"I know so much about the program that I'm mainly going up there to get to know other recruits," the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Quarles said. "I want to talk to as many guys as I can to try to get them to come to Carolina with me. I'm hoping we're going to sign a great class."

Quarles, who has been timed in the 100 meters in under 11 seconds flat, isn't playing any other sports at Greenwood, but is working hard to stay in shape.
"I'm lifting a lot of weights and running a lot," he said. "I was going to run track, but I'm going to skip it this year and do it next year. I may play basketball next year, too."
Quarles is also looking forward to meeting with the Gamecock coaches this weekend.
"I want to talk with the coaches, especially coach (Brad) Lawing since he'll be my position coach," he said. "But I like talking to all of (the coaches)."
One familiar face joining Quarles on campus will be Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes star running back Marcus Lattimore, who Quarles talks with regularly.
"We talk pretty much every day," he said. "I'm hoping he's going to be a Gamecock with me."
