Rivals100 member nearing decision

Laurinburg (N.C.) Scotland County defensive end Travian Robertson, who recently debuted as a member of the 2007 Rivals100, took an unofficial visit to South Carolina over the weekend and is nearing a decision.
"It was a another good visit," the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Robertson said. "For me it was just like the rest of the visits down there because I've always had a great time. I was mainly there to watch my friend (Byron McKnight) participate in their camp. The trip was more for my parents, especially my mom."

As it turns out, Robertson's mom was impressed with the Gamecocks as her son has been.
"She loved everything about it. The campus, the stadium, the coaches, all of it. My dad had already been there, but he liked it, too."
While on campus, Robertson and his family met with multiple South Carolina coaches.
"We met with Coach (Steve) Spurrier while we were there, and he talked about how much he wants to win another SEC championship. He also talked about how important it was to sign a lot of players from close by, and how they really need defensive ends. We also met with Coach (Brad) Lawing. He broke down the depth chart and told us a lot about how spring practice went."
Robertson, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds, also recently received some good news on the academic front.
"I got my SAT score back, and now I may have the chance to graduate in December. If I can do it, that's what I want to do. Coach Lawing was telling me how much it would help me play right away because I would be so much more experienced than the other freshmen that don't go through spring practice."
Robertson has two more trips on the docket and believes a decision is on the horizon.
"I'm going to NC State this coming week, and I'm going to Clemson on June 19th. I'm going to commit in the next couple of weeks once I take those trips. I'm going to go wherever I feel most comfortable with the coaches, and I'm also looking at facilities, and where I'll be living."
Robertson declined to name a leader.
"I can't say who my favorite is until I take the rest of my visits. I'll know after they are over."
