Shaw committed on Wednesday but waited two days to make his decision public.

"It happened Wednesday but he wanted to take a few days to tell the other schools before he announced it," said Shaw's AAU coach, Major Williamson.
Shaw called the Gamecock coaches to inform him of his decision. He talked to GamecockCentral.com on Friday afternoon about the choice.
"It's home," he said. "It's a place I can come in and help build the program. It takes a load off of me and relieves a lot of stress to make my decision."
Shaw's future coach was happy to hear the news.
"Oh yeah, Coach (Frank) Martin was real happy," Shaw said. "He said we'll build something strong here at South Carolina."
The phone calls from friends and family congratulating Shaw on staying in-state for college have already started pouring in.
"They're all excited for me," he said. "They're hoping for the best for me."
At six-foot, Shaw has built a strong reputation for being a relentless worker and he's looking forward to the future.
"I'm definitely a hard worker," he said. "I'm a team player. I'm excited about playing with the guys coming in. I think we'll be great together."
His AAU coach echoed those statements.
