South Carolina Adds Some P5 WR Depth With Ahmari Huggins-Bruce

We knew South Carolina was going to keep turning over stones in the portal to balance out the WR depth, and of those came to fruition today when former Louisville WR Ahmari Huggins-Bruce went live with his commitment to South Carolina.

Huggins-Bruce is returning home, after the Dillon, SC native spent the last three years playing for the Cardinal. In that time, he put up 80 catches for 1121 yards and 10 TDs. While Huggins-Bruce isn't the true WR1 South Carolina will need to step up in 2024, he is a speedy role player who consistently made an impact at Lousiville and had at least 300 yards in all 3 seasons in Kentucky.

His best game came against Boston College, where he had 3 catches for 110 yards and 2 TDs. That sort of explosiveness could prove valuable as the Gamecocks look to replace production following the departure of Xavier Legette to the NFL draft, and Antwane Wells to the portal.

Huggins-Bruce should also bring some veteran sensibilities to a young WR room, with the Gamecocks likely to depend on Sophomores Nyckoles Harbor and Tyshawn Ruseell and Freshmen Debron Gatling and Mazeo Bennett to attempt to make an impact early.
