It took awhile, but South Carolina women’s basketball landed a huge win on the recruiting trail.

Class of 2025 five-star guard Agot Makeer officially committed to South Carolina in a signing ceremony on Saturday afternoon, finally ending her lengthy recruiting process. Makeer was one of only two players in ESPN’s top-100 recruits who had not signed yet, a rarity in modern college sports with the early signing period now available to recruits.

But after narrowing down her final three to South Carolina, UConn and Michigan State, Makeer committed to Dawn Staley’s program.

Makeer is from Thunder Bay, Ontario, but currently plays for Montverde Academy, the highly-touted prep school in Florida. The 6-foot-1 guard is ranked as the No. 4 overall recruit in the class of 2025, making this the second year in a row South Carolina has landed a top-five player after signing Joyce Edwards last year. Makeer will also play in the McDonald’s All-American game on Apr. 1.

She is the second member of Staley’s recruiting class for 2025, joining wing Ayla McDowell out of Cypress, Texas.
