Stephen Davis Jr. to join Gamecocks

Former Columbia (S.C.) Dutch Fork standout Stephen Davis Jr. will join the South Carolina football program this summer.

Davis will start his Carolina career as a walk-on this season, according to The State's Lou Bezjak, who first reported the news after speaking with Davis' father, Stephen Davis Sr. Davis Sr. played in the NFL for 11 season.

Gamecock Central has confirmed the news.

Davis Jr., a former four-star ATH who signed with Auburn out of high school last year and redshirted for the Tigers as a freshman, announced his transfer from the school in February.

Davis, who played safety for most of his high school career before adding running back to his duties as a senior, will have to sit out the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
