Summerville (S.C.) Cane Bay three-star safety RJ Roderick kicked off the Early Signing Period for the Gamecocks as the first South Carolina signee to send in his National Letter of Intent.

The 6-foot, 205-pound Roderick committed to South Carolina this summer and will enroll at the school in January.

Roderick is one of 17 South Carolina commits expected to sign with the school during the Early Signing Period, which started Wednesday morning.

Gamecock Central is also tracking three targets who could announce today.
