Tifton (Ga.) Tift County wide receiver Israel Troupe is one of the top overall prospects the Peach State has to offer in its class of 2007, and has five impressive offers to his credit.
"I have offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, South Carolina and Clemson," the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Troupe said. "Those are pretty much my top schools."
Troupe, who caught 36 balls for 495 yards and three touchdowns as a junior, has taken trips to Georgia and Georgia Tech so far this spring.
"Georgia has a great program, and they have a lot to offer a student-athlete," he said. "Their coaching staff seemed down to earth and they're very interested in me. Georgia Tech has some of the same qualities, and they also have nice facilities. Plus a degree from there means a whole lot."
Troupe will head to Gainesville this weekend to see what the Florida Gators have to offer, a team his third cousin Ben Troupe played for.
"Florida's coaches seem like they are down to earth, too, and they're going to need some wide receivers soon once some of their current ones graduate. It seems like they're going to do good things as a program."
Two Palmetto State rivals are also battling for Troupe's signature.
"Clemson is an up and coming program, and I like Coach Tommy Bowden. As far as South Carolina goes, what can you say about Steve Spurrier? He's one of the greatest offensive minds in college football history, and I definitely think he would know how to get me the ball if I ended up going there."
Troupe, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and bench presses 310 pounds, will choose his school based on two primary factors.
"I want to play in an offense that incorporates the wide receivers a lot, and play for a good coaching staff. I don't have any favorites yet, and I won't make my decision until after my season is over. I want to take my official visits before I make any kinds of choices."
