Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake cornerback Addison Williams one of the top cornerbacks in attendance at the Clemson NIKE Camp this past weekend, has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

"I called Coach (Ron) Cooper and committed to South Carolina," the 5-foot-9, 170-pound Williams said. "At first I think he was a little shocked, but then after we talked for a little while he was happy. I just told him South Carolina was definitely where I wanted to be."
Williams, who has been timed in the 40-yard dash in under 4.4 seconds, came to that conclusion based on several factors.
"They have the coaching stability I'm looking for with Coach (Steve) Spurrier there now. I'll also have a chance to compete for playing time right away as a true freshman. Plus I think they're going to be in the top-25 every year now. So they pretty much have everything I'm looking for."
Williams, who racked up 32 tackles and six interceptions as a junior, plans to visit the Gamecock campus again soon.
"I'll be there on June 10th for their senior camp. I won't be working out, but I'll be there to see the campus and everything."
While Williams said he might take a couple visits at some point, Gamecock fans have no reason to be concerned.
"I'm 100% Gamecock," he said. "It will take a whole lot for me to change my mind about that."
Williams projects as a full qualifier and also had offers from Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Tulane and Indiana. He is expected to have a conversation with Gamecock head coach Steve Spurrier sometime this weekend.
