South Carolina has now picked up four verbal commitments in less than a week, as Opelika (Alabama) defensive end Quandeski Whitlow pledged to USC on Monday evening.

Things moved fast between the two parties, as Whitlow made his first visit to Columbia on Friday. At that time, he knew he wanted to head to USC.
"I loved it. By the time I got down there, I just felt like I was at home," he said. "When I was on the field, I could picture myself in a Gamecock uniform. Me and Coach Botkin, we've been talking since last spring and kept in contact. When I finally got up there, it was just something I liked and felt like I could be a part of."
The opportunity to play in Lorenzo Ward's defense also appealed to the three-star defender.
"The defensive coaches are great people. They fit my style. They run the 4-2-5, can't beat it. We run it at Opelika," he said. "The facilities are great. They're building the new indoor facility, the new dorm complex."
The 6-foot-3, 228-pounder, who cited a balanced game with improved pass-rushing skills when describing his game, does plan to make a few official visits.
"I'm going to take more visits in the fall. I'm going to Miami, back to Kentucky, and then back to up to South Carolina."
