Williams is a Gamecock

South Carolina's recruiting class received another boost on the offensive side of the ball on Friday night when senior running back David Williams announced his pledge to USC during the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl in California.
The 6-foot-1, 192-pounder from Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Inst Charter chose South Carolina over other scholarship offers from programs such as Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, NC State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, UCF, and others.

The standout performer made just one official visit during the recruiting process to Arizona State, one of his finalists, in early September. His official visit to South Carolina will take place on the Gamecock staff's biggest recruiting weekend of January 18 later this month.
Williams was recruited to South Carolina by quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus. He visited Columbia in June and the Gamecocks then grabbed a lead that was never relinquished. Arizona State was the runner-up for his services.
Williams is rated by Rivals.com as a four-star prospect and the eighteenth-best running back in the country. He is also rated by Rivals.com as the eighth-best prospect in the state of Pennsylvania.
