Gamecocks add outfielder to 2017 class

South Carolina added to its 2017 class today when Collins Hill (Ga.) outfielder Ian Jenkins officially committed to the Gamecocks.

Jackson visited Columbia this weekend where he toured the facilities, watched a few innings of the Gamecocks' scrimmage before making his way to Williams-Brice for the football game against ECU.

The 6-foot, 205-pounder came away incredibly impressed after his trip, saying when he left he absolutely loved it. With his father being from South Carolina, he already has ties to the state.

South Carolina's coaches offered him a scholarship Tuesday around noon and he made his commitment the same night.

Jenkins is ranked the No. 80 overall prospect in Georgia and No. 19 at his position. He's the second true outfielder in the 2017 class joining Kyle Jacobsen.

He's the sixteenth member of the 2017 class. He's the second commitment today, joining 2018 outfielder Dillon Lifrieri.
